Default kickpanel speakers

i am redoing the interior of my 70 challenger and am placing new infinity speakers and alpine head unit and infinity 4 channel amp but i would like to place some more speakers in the kickpanels near the dash next to the parking brake on the drivers side if you can understand what i'm sayin. but where can i buy em and if you can how could it clear the parkin brake? i don't wanna mold them outta fiberglass cause then it would not match the dash. thanks for the info. later, blake.

You can buy kick panels in the aftermarket and make holes in them. I wouldn't recommend making holes in the origionals though.

Default RE: kickpanel speakers

Hey, did you ever get your kickpanel speakers done? I'm new to the forum and just came across your post. I was in the same dilemma, because every one I talked to told me that it couldn't be done unless the parking brake was removed. One local audio dealer did mention a shallow mount speaker, but ultimately concluded that even that wouldn't work. My local Mopar guru told me that removing the parking brake was no big deal, and that he has done it on all of his cars. Apparently the auto trans has some sort of thingamajig that locks the vehicle in place when in park? Anyway, after that, I let the audio shop talk me into having custom enclosures fabricated for the seperates (mid & tweets). The pod now sits in front of the kickpanels more towards the firewall. Apparently this is better for sound because the speakers are pointing towards to you. I guess I'd have to agree, since it does sound awesome. HOWEVER...I hate this arrangement becuase it really interferes with your feet. Not in a dangerous way, but just uncomfortable and a pain in the A$% because you can't put your feet in the right position. Bad for the passenger too. So, the moral of the story is just do it the old-school way in the kickpanels, remove the parking brake, and enjoy. I'll probably redo mine that way eventually. If you want pics of my current setup let me know.
