Any Challengers Here Yet??
Hello all. It's nice to see all those sweet rides out there.
Here is my 73 Challenger that I've owned since 1983. I also posted some other pictures in the photo gallery. It was my daily driver through college and was completely restored in 1990-2. Took out the original 340 and replaced it with a '69 440 Magnum out of a GTX that had never been touched. I stripped the car as far as I could without breaking welds, replaced everything I could, or at least could afford and did everything except the paint with the help of a few friends. I still have a diamond tuck interior from the early 80's that's screaming to be replaced, the A/C needs to be hooked up, and the rear springs need to be replaced, but otherwise she's complete.
Does anybody have any suggestions about curing a power drop when the engine is running? When the engine is off, everything is fine. When it's cranked, it's discharging badly, so much so that the radio thinks you've turned off the car at idle. It's not until 1500 rpm's that I have a positive charge. I have underdriven pulleys, but was having the problem before, although not as badly. It's not a sudden problem, but has been getting worse over time. As you can imagine, this doesn't make cruising on a fine evening very much fun.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thats a great looking Challenger you have. Have you checked the alternator? Try starting it and while it's running, disconnect the battery. If this causes the car to stop running, then it's probably the alternator. If it doesn't stop running, turn on all electrical items, lights, wipers, high beams, radio, heater, etc. If this stops it from running, it's the same as before, the alternator. If none of this causes it to stop running, then the problem lies elsewhere.

I am working on that..lol, there is a very clean 70- 383 that I have my eye on thats for sale. There is a Detomaso Pantera (71) that I would like to buy too.. so not sure which one will be the one I end up with.
I had a 68 440 Charger but I sold that to a friend in order to get the Hemi....
All I can say is that if I die tomorrow I would still be a happy man, especialy after driving the Hemi!
Regards,
Napoli
