Default junk yard challenger find

just wondering what a challenger like this would be worth? I spotted it and one other in a local junk yard when i was a kid and just was curious to see if they may still be there when i went back last week to get an air bag for my dakota. they were! and way back in the woods so far no one could hardley ever see them to know they were there. Turns out the owner of the yard is into impalas and hates mopars .when i asked if he still had them he said ya there back there some where i guess but who would want that mopar crap anyway?the cars are pretty much stripped but both have pretty good doors and the floor and frame on the one is good they are both 73 models one was a 340 car,i checked the vin, and he still has the title for tthat one.he wants 500 for both .the other is a 318 and someone cut off the front frame on one side and a piece from the rear.
There was also a 57 fury 2 door and a few darts and one 68 or 69 cuda notch back.I couldnt believe there was all this mopar stuff still there.

Definitely- E-bodies are the hottest things on wheels right now; you could easily make back 4-5 times the 500 he wants by just breaking up what's left for parts. If the 340 car shell is still solid, it could probably be resold intact to an ambitious restorer. Either way, for that money, you can't lose!

for anyone who lives near tionesta, PA, out in the middle of no where, i came across a mopar junkyard...it had a big old barn in front of it, right along a two lane road, and the owner drove a mirada....there was a wing car with a tree growing through the middle of it...[:@]

I've seen original Hemi cars with no engine or transmission or anything else for that matter, just a bare shell with $20,000+ price tags on them, it's really rediculous.

I have seen much worse restored let alone, parted out. Grab 'em! The 340 car is worth seeing whether someone wants to restore it.

They are definitely worth $500!!! I see that much in parts from the one photo.

Something to keep in mind. Mopar's are expensive to rebuild. The parts are generally out there but you'll easily spend $20K minimum on the body/interior alone to get it right and that's doing the work yourself. That pic shows a salvagable car, but I wouldn't qualify it as anything other than a parts car. Roof shows structural damage. Once you get it out of the weeds, I imagine it won't get any better. Also, know that it will cost you as much to restore a 72-74 Challenger as the earlier years but they aren't bagging the insane money being thrown at anything 70-71. There weren't any convertibles or big-blocks after 71 and I haven't seen anything over mid-$30's for 72-74. No matter how sharp. Mine's in pretty good shape (she's in the general photo gallery) and I could only get it insured for $30k. I've got more than that in her.

good point. I have all the parts to make it a 70 and was planning on building a custom frame with independant rear suspension because of all the rust damage anyway and i didnt really want to chop up a nice 70 or 71 challenger when there worth so much money .i had a 70 challenger but it is destroyed beyond repair so i'm going to make one car out of the two.

Good luck with it! [sm=smiley20.gif] You might want to check out www.cuda-challenger.com as you get into it. As far as E-body's go, somebody's either done it, doing it or knows how to do it on that forum. They're a good group of people who've been a great resource for me as I've tackled various aspects of my restoration.
