69 superbee 4-speed... need response ASAP
Hey fellows. Here is the story. In my grage has been sitting for about 20yrs a 4-speed that I was told cam out of a 69 superbee (engine unknow). It was pulled rebuilt then baught by my father over 20 yrs ago and hasn't been touched since.
I just happened to run into a guy with a car I have been looking to buy that happens to be looking for an old mopar 4-speed. I really need to do some homework quickly because I have no idea the value of this thing and dont want to get screwed, because I am really only looking to get an 87 beet up daytona that is not even running (summer project)out of this deal, I was hoping someone on here could give me a ballpark estimate on value, tell me exactly what it came out of... what it will fit (any info!! or even just poing me in the right direction). I would be incredibly appreciative.
The big numbers I pulled off of it are....
one the main part:C 96561H and C 95664W
on the tail shaft: C-86707J
It has a 23 spline input.
Thank you in advance
Andy

There is a pad on the right side of the main case with numbers stamped into it, those are the numbers which will tell us some info about the trans, it will tell the year of car it was in the plant the car came from and the date the trans was assembled. Here is a pic of what the pad and numbers look like.

Beat 1987 Daytonas are worth about $25 to you to haul away. Your 4 spd on the other hand depending on condition is worh a lot more. Look at the input shaft if there are 18 splines it's out of a Hemi aor 6 pack car. If it's 23 splines it's the standard 4 spd used behind everything else from 6 cylinders to 440. Although the 6's gear ratios were different. The other determining factors would be tailshaft housing length and shifter pad mounting location. I can't recall what fits in which body but why not go on ebay and look up Mopar 4spd?
23 spline was used only up to 383. 440 and hemi used 18 spline. So it could be out of a SuperBee (most had 383's anyway). VIN stamp on tranny may not show enough numbers to verify Bee, sometimes just last 8 digits of sequential vehicle.
andy dude. do like unclemike says and go on e-bay to see what these are selling for and you'll have a good idea of what it's worth. an 18 spline trans is worth a lot more than a 23 spline transmission and there are plenty on e-bay to compare it with. the only way you may get a few bucks extra for it is if there is a restorer that needs that specific number transmission. i'd keep the trans and put it on e-bay to get the most you could.
