Default My New RoadRunner project car.

Found this one close to my mom's house while out driving around. It's an orignal 69 1/2 440 six barrell roadrunner, its rusty and crudy but mostly intack the orginal engine even comes with the deal though it can't be rebuilt due to a thrown rod. The tranny is missing but the fiberglass hood is still on the car though cracked at the corners it has been sitting up for ten(YIKES)years the guy who owned the car planned to restore it but became ill and it sit. i gave $1500 for it under the condition i take the guy for a spin when i'm done!<IMG src=uploads/andybuzz2u/1ZC78_DSC00054.JPG border="0"> <edited><editID>andybuzz2u</editID><editDate>37992.6872916667</editDate></edited>

Great find! <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> A thrown rod does not necessarily mean that it can't be used, unless there is a hole in the block. My Roadrunners #'s matching 383 had thrown a rod, but only took a small chunk out of the bottom of two cylinder walls, so I will need to have the block checked and also check to see if the cylinders are damaged low enough that it does not need to be sleeved. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley18.gif border="0"> <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0">

Yeah RoadRunner the block is toast. From the story he told me his nephew borrowed the car in 1988 for prom night and had it towed back with a blown block. It knocked a whole thru the block and cracked the crank? But i matched all the motor numbers and it was a 440 six barrell engine six pack rodssteel crank trw 10.5:1 pistons all the good stuff three bolt cam wich i think i can salvage just have to hunt down another 440 block or by one from mopar if they still sell them, haven't seen anything advertiseing there new mopar performance catalog though. But when your redoing a 35 year old car that has been setting for a decade, the motor is low on the list of to do things right now, i'm more interseted in saving the body from rust and getting it together. The power train will be the next to last thing i do. My srt maybe fast but there is nothing like haveing the torque of a 440 drinking a six pack wraping your kidney around your spine!

Oh well, at least now you don't need to worry about #'s matching so you can have all the fun you want. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> I know what you mean about the torque <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> , besides my Roadrunner, I also drive my dads 550 hp '69 Charger with a 440 and his 630+ hp '74 Barracuda with a 426 Hemi. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"> Good luck and nice find. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0">

Barracuda+Hemi=Shark! Got any pics of that? Asking cause i have been toying with the same mod for sometime now. The 70-72 Barracuda's/Cuda and Dodge Challengers are just next to impossible to find anymore. Well there out there but im not going to pay the price.</P>

Going to trailer it over to my dads garage this saturday. The guy i brought it from is a retired fireman, so i guess that's were the dalmation came from? lol. I made the mistake by not noticeing the puppies when i went to look at the car, Never, EVER, get between a Dalmation and her pups! She bit me twice once on my left thigh and my left hand as i pushed( Ok i was going for the TKO)her away. But she was cool when it was me, her, and the pups behind her!
