Default Engine Compression

Hey, Can anyone tell me what my 1972 400cid engine should have for compression. It has 102k miles on it. The readings I took came out 130lbs -the highest and 120lbs the lowest, during a cold/dry test. Thanks Don

From my 1972 Factory service manual... 100 psi MINIMUM - engine warm with all plugs removed and carb WOT... Sounds like you have a healthy motor, but with that mileage I'd be thinking about dropping the oil pan, replacing bearings and the timing chain.

Do yourself a big favor and buy a FACTORY service manual, the info in there is more than worth the few bucks.
