Default My 71 Dodge Charger

When I was a in my later teen years I used to always love going on cruises with my grandpa in his old charger. The smell of leather and gasoline was one of the best memories in that car and it still smells like brand new leather to this day. But of course people get old and have to leave this world and that's what grandpa did but he sure did leave a mark in my familys hearts.

When he was a in his 20s he moved from Quebec, Canada to Genwood Spings, Colorado and he owned two other 71 chargers during his time a Brown/gold 500, White and Black RT. I'm not sure why he sold the brown 500 but he sold his White R/T because my mother and aunt where born and my grandma wanted to get a actual family car not a muscle car. At the time gas prices where suddenly rising and gas stations where running out of gas!(Oil crisis) so he had no choice but to get rid the charger.

A few years later in 1998 he was driving around town and found this charger for sale sitting in a old farmers field. So of course he had to check out the car, it had the original 440 magnum but no interor, tires blown, and paint was down to the primer. He bought the car for only $500 and had it town home.

In 1999 in his free time was restoring this car and here it is now, 1971 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum

Grandpa did an excellent job. That is one I would keep, and pass on to MY children.

Excellent job no less but i would would brig back the bumpers to shiny chrome. I see it peeking out! Also is it "real" (left the factory with that motor/trans etc...)? If it is it's one of 332 made! Do you know if your Grandpa kept the build sheet or fender tag(if they where there when he got it)? Fender tag is almost directly next to the battery and is held on with two philips screws.

I would love to bring back the chrome back but it's hard to find anyone there in Colorado to do it, I have the build sheet and fender tag is there. I will send a picture of it once I get back from camping. Motor and trans is original.
