Default Title Question.

The 73 charger I have only has the VIN # on its fender tag. I found a parts car that i can use but can't get a title for (thus its a parts car).
1. Is there a title one can get for hot rods that are peiced together from any cars?
2. Can i get a title from just the fender tag?
3. Any websites that jave more info on the subject?

it really depends on your states D.M.V. here in New York it is a pain but it can be done with a recipt from the previous title holder, if no vin # it would need a state inspection, but if you're just talking the parts car, you shouldn't need a title, just call a scrap man to take it away when you have pulled all you need from it. If you live in a difrent state i really can't say on the parts car, but here that is only needed if you're putting said car on the road( or proof of owner-ship if you have a record of auto theft and a local cop who has it in for ya..lol) as far as 2 or more cars made into one the title for the body you're putting on the road is what they need unless you're going costom nuts and putting it on a 4X4 chassie, but i hop you wouldn't do that to such a sweet ride as a early 70 b-body. i had a 73 se charger for years that i sold for a down payment on my house and i miss the old girl somethin wicked

Like Ramrat said, depends on the laws in your state. In NH, nothing older than 10 years even requires a title- you can get a vehicle registered with just a bill of sale. Look at your states DMV webpage to see what they require.

I bought my '73 as a parts car and then went to broadway title, there website is www.broadwaytitle.com they're located in Alabama and after a VIN check to make sure it isnt stolen, they can get a title for your car for about $150.00

Some people are sketchy about this but it worked for me. I now have a legit Maryland title for my car.

rebel4life,

When did you use Broadway Title? Was it recent?

I am also in Maryland, and am in your same situation with a lost title on a 49-year old vehicle.

I have checked out Broadway Title on the internet, and they seem legit. But I guess I'm a little leary based on a few posts on other websites that indicated this was no longer a good route to go, based on a similar company that got investigated.

So your expericence was good? How recent was it?
Thanks.
