Is it Possible
Is it possible, Hey guys I am really new to dodge muscle cars, been a mustang guy previously but I was wondering if it was even possible to find a 68-70 charger that is drivable and decent looking for under 10 grand. I am not looking for an original 440 or hemi R/T or anything just a mean muscle car to tool around the streets and occasionally visit the dragstrip without embarassing myself. I have been looking around for the last month and all I see are complete resto projects or mint 30-60,000 show cars. Thanks for the help
It's possible, but chances are anything you find is going to need alot of restoration work. The only thing I can think of otherwise is if you luck out and someone wants a car gone in a hurry.
Good luck on that!

It is possible, but I hope you have low expactations.... for that kind of money, the best you can hope for would be a low-option 318 car. And forget eBag.... everybody there thinks a Charger is worth a fortune. Be prepared to beat the bushes to find cars that aren't widely advertised... that's probably the best bet to find something reasonable. And no matter what you get will require some degree of work- how much depends on what you spend up front.
Thanks, so you suggest looking locally and skipping ebay? What could I expect to pay for something like this pic with a 383 and decent interior (has seats and carpet and functional dash), only minor rust, decent paint (some scrathes and several years old but nice looking)

Honestly, you are probably looking at 15-20K easily, unless the owner just wants it gone.
That car looks in pretty good shape, and considering the market for old Chargers, Cudas, and Roadrunners.....he could easily make more then that if he really wanted to.
I mean, make an offer around 10-12K and see what he says....you never know...he may take it.
When I was 16, I purchased a 65 SS Impala with the 327 for 4 grand. It was in pretty good condition but the old man who owned it was moving into an old folks home. It was his son's who had passed away.
You'd be surprised what's sitting in a lot of peoples back yards. I almost bought a 68 Camaro RS parts car for 2500. The body was in great shape, but no interior and no engine.

You really are best off looking locally, drive around alot and keep your eyes alert for what your looking for. I found my first car that way, my '71 Roadrunner and it looked better then than what it does now, except under the hood. It was sitting in Krogers parking lot with a For Sale sign on it and I just checked it out to look at it, but then I had seen the price and it was only around $2,500. I have also found a '69 GTX with 440 4-spd. that had plenty of new parts and was in primer, all it needed was paint, for only $4,500. I didn't have the cash at the time or the established credit or I would have that very GTX right now. However, I got my Roadrunner 12 years ago and I found that GTX about 9 years ago, so their values have gone up since then.
