Question The case of the leftover part...

Hi,
These two plastic mouldings (See below), along with a jar of loose bolts and screws came back with my car (1969 Dodge Charger Daytona) from the first body shop I had sent it to (It was sanded to the metal and painted but no clear coat added because the owner died and the shop closed.). Finding the right place for the bolts and screws took a while but was feasible mainly by locating those that were new or not were they should have been, but I could never figure out where the mouldings go. There's two of them, likely one for the driver side and the other for the passenger side, each measuring 15 3/4" with a width of 3/4". The groove on the back side is 1/8" wide and about a 1/2" deep. Does anyone have any idea where they go? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jacques

Window moldings? Not long enough for the front doors, maybe rear quarter windows??

Are they originals or aftermarket? Should have a part # on them if they are oem.

They are original (At least they were on the car when I bought it in April 1970) but I can't find any part number.

That's what I thought also but they are not long enough to fit the top or bottom of the quarter window.

Wow. No, they aren't long enough.

Maybe rub strips for the back edge of the doors? Or, maybe they don't go to your car at all.

Good point! Maybe I'm looking for nothing. Too bad I can't ask the paint shop owner about it.... (I'm not really into spiritualism).
By the way, there is one on the backside of the door but it's longer and... obviously already in place. Anyway I really appreciate your help and shouldn't have you loose any more time on this.

Those almost look like window channels for the inside of the door for the glass to slide on.

They are called cat whiskers and they are to short anyway. I looked up all the reproduction rubber parts available for it. I couldn't find a exploded view of the nose that is what i though it may belong to. I found this that looked very similar but the length was longer.

I've gotten a lot of aftermarket parts over the years that had extra material so you could do a custom trim to fit.
