Air grabber hood for 71
This is something I've wanted to add to my beeper for years. I figured it was goona take about $2000+ to do this. Then I went to a car show earlier this month and a guy there was telling me that in last months issue of Mopar Collector's Guide there was an article on the 71 Satellite hoods. He said that the standard satellite hood is the same as an uncut air grabber without the fiberglass bubble and other parts. At first I didn't believe him until I looked at a few pics of airgrabbers then compared them to my 71 Sattelite parts car hood. I gotta tell ya .....looks like this may be the truth but I don't know for sure. Can anyone else back up that guy's claims? Does anyone on here have that issue of MCG? If it is true then it looks like I'll be spending much less then originally anticipated as I will have had an incomplete airgrabber right under my nose since April! I've added a few pics of my parts car's hood for comparison.

As far as the sheet metal goes, that is correct, they are the same. I do not know how they differ in the under hood bracing though. Since it will be a cutting job anyway, the bracing doesn't matter. The top is the same as a typical Satellite Sebrings', but with the added bulge height and scoop. I have seen the fiberglass kits for doing this to a regular Sebring hood, if I find the ad for it I will post the info for you.
Yup ....www.stingerfiberglass.com has the complete kit. So its now offically on the project list. Sometime in the future my beepers gonna get the fresh air treatment!
I doubt the bulge will fit between the side scoops. I'm gonna take my new found 'bare boned' air grabber and cut it ....prep it, prime it and get it ready to paint. Then I'll invest in all the glass parts. But I still need to find the vacuum canister, air grabber switch and the air cleaner assembly.
I think it would be very possible since the main bulge is fiberglass, just mold it nicely in between the scoops. I have seen one where someone just cut the hood and placed the air grabber scoop between the two scoops, it was bad as hell. I don't know how or if it operated properly, but it was done that way.
curious how the air grabber was going. seen your post doing research on adding air grabber to my bird. would like to see or at least talk with someone with air grabber experience before laying out the couple of grand it looks like it will take just to get started. any info or other sites you know of would be appreciated.besides www.stingerfiberglass.comi looked at www.moparplus.com they have a weld in hood opening and some other parts.article in mopar collectors guide was no help!to start i'd be happy to just have the bulge and hinged scoop with somewayof mechanically activating the scoop.

besides stinger, I've seen quite a few aftermarket folks producing the canister, brackets, gaskets, switches and lines for the airgrabbers. Ebay at a minimum has stuff out there.
Good luck
