Any develpment on the smoke on start up from anyone????I had a nice blue cloud belch out of mine the other day......Just like a chev.Kinda embarrasing for a new car.....

 

I have also had that experience. Its a rare thing but I've seen in 3 or 4 times over 12000 miles. Have no clue what causes it. Just on cold starts, just like an old Chevy with bad valve seals. The dealer checked things out but found nothing.....

 

Blue smoke is usually oil. Cold start blue smoke is usually bad valve guides letting the oil drip down on the pistons. I would push Chrysler to replace the heads. If they can't tell you where the smoke is coming from then its the only logical assumption that the valve guides are leaking. Write some certiifed letters to the Chrysler customer complaint department. Video tape the smoke and send them a copy.

this has been talked on the other forums. mine did the same took in to the dealer not able to verify the problem at thattime. it's been said that it's because when the engine is shut off after a rev. of the eng. it will have vaccum on some cylinder causing it to suck in the oil thru the seals.

Did they put anything in your engine to stop the smoke? Any improvement on your engine since then?

 

no they say they couldn't verify the problem at that time so they just said--no problem found---

 

Same issue here. Only difference here, is after they said "No problems here," I took the vehicle home, parked it and left the country.
2 weeks later I returned. Went out to the garage, popped the hood and noticed the reservoir. Opened it up and could see the left over white compound inside. Called the dealer to see what they put in when I stopped by, and they have denied putting anything in...

So, I am asking anyone else that has had a similar issue or smoke in the exhaust (with a coolant smell) to contact me. Chrysler isn't addressing this problem until it becomes a public issue. I plan on getting this repaired or replaced... with my lawyer's help.

only white compound i can think of is the Mopar white lithium grease or maybe some combustion chamber spray

i have also worked on one and i searched and searched and found nothing wrong with the car, pressure tested this, did a consumption test,

i have been on phone with chrysler before and they told me, as a tech, that many techs around US have had similiar problems, but until we actually find something that this is doing harm to the engine... just let it go until it causes a problem...

as a tech, it is true, it is not going to hurt anything

these engines are very high performance and they are gonna have some oil seepage around the valve seals and it really isnt much, but it is JUST enough to make a little cloud of thin blue smoke... not going to harm these engines... no harm is coming to them.
i have done a set of valve seals on one of these engines - had same problem- just as a guinea pig, and about a month later, it was doing same thing... it is just a thing you cannot stop... like i said, it is not much, it is VERY little
