Default Brake Dusting Problems

I just bought a used SRT-8 charger with only 5k miles on it... My question is that it seems to have an unnatural ammount of brake dust on the front rims specifically but on the rear too ... Any advise or questions ... It seems that after I wash the are ... drive 50 miles and need to wash the wheels again ... Anyone else have this problem??/

Thanks...

My Ram SRT-10 was the same way. I put Performance Friction pads on it, the dust is now manageable. My stock pads even had a squeak once in a while.

Welcome to the world of performance brakes.... I clean the wheels every other day, and that's after I use special wax that is supposed to minimize the dust. I too will change the stock pads to something that produces less dust, after they are worn enough....

Has to the Brembo pads if installed on yours. I have the magnumSRT8. I have to wash mine every 2-3 days. But, that braking in worth the hassle.

Part numbers
63-104-1149 (Front)
63-104-1053 (Rear)
These are good for the Brembo Brake system on the SRT. I have went with these pads and love the heck out of them. I only wash my wheels when I actually wash the vehicle. These are a definite must for guys like me who want a performance brake pad, but don't like washing the car every 2nd or 3rd day.

I also found a link for something else I didas well. If the rotors are grooved or scorned, this may help you a LOT.

Hiya,
I wash my wheels every other day due to the heavy dusting. I work at a dodge dealership, two days ago I saw a customer bring his mag SRT8 for the coolant recall. While looking over his ride, I noticed he hardly had any dust at all on his wheels. So I questioned him where was all of the dust on his wheels. He laughed, stated he replaced them with some ceramic pads from napa. There was hardly any signs of dust at all on them. Also told me that the brembo pads use coal in their pads.

Later, Terry

Thanks for that great information. A buddy of mine did mention slotted rotors to a few weeks ago. Will be looking into these for sure.

Thanks again Silver

Hal
