Charger SRT-8 That thing got a Hemi? Indeed, a 6.1L Hemi that is. The Dodge Charger SRT-8 pounds the pavement with severe power.

hdcouple, thanks for the put. I understand the basic processes that Dealers go through and how they interact with Sales Allocation/Manufacturing. I'll let you all know when I get the VIN.

I was just wondering, I thought I read in another Thread that you cancelled your order for the SRT-8 and don't really want anything to do with Chrysler. If you don't mind me asking, why you hanging out here?

Nomad,
Actually the VON (Vehicle Order Number) is the first step in the process. That is what your dealer sends DC. Following is the 800# to check status of your VON with DC. They will tell you when you actually get your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and that is really when the build process starts. Don't count on the dealer advising you of this.

As I stated in my reply to hdcouple, there is a great web site that you can become a "supporter" of and they will track your build and whered you can converse with others that ordered the same model, that are going through the build process. I was actually advising the Fleet Manager I dealt with on my order about delays (Kicker System) and problems (tire option) with my order based on information I gleaned from this site. There is a lot of info you can get there for free as well. Here is the link. http://www.bramptonassembly.com/board/index.php I highly reccommend that you join, as it made my build/wait bearable/enjoyable and you feel like you are aprt of it. (IMHO)

Following is the 800# that worked for me and some info I had archived. Hope it helps you enjoy, or at least takes some of the pain out of, your build.
KK

PS: Here is another site that you may want to monitor. http://www.arifleet.com/production.html And you'll find a lot of Magnum info @ my web page @ http://www.quartzsitervshow.com/magnum_file.htm

Phone method:

• Call 1-800-992-1997.

• The sequence to input is 1, 2, 5, 2, 3... your phone
number, then 1. This brings you to a human who can update you on your order status.

Below is a list of stages in the order process:

BB Review by fleet department

BG Passed edit n/a for schedule
BGL Edit ok parts unavailable
BX Passed edit available for schedule
C Sub firm
D Firm schedule - dealer has allocation and all parts available

Nomad, getting Von # is not the problem.

It is is getting it out of the BX status to a D status.

I have had my Von # since May 5th, It has been in Bx status since June. You won't even get a vin # till it goes to D status and is given a build date.

As far as Know there is know way to track them until they have a D status.

But if I am wrong I sure someone will give you the correct info.

KK,

Already took your lead on BramptonAssembley and joined the "Private" section. Thanks for the 800#. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Your site has been quite helpful. Already checked out the price on the Zoomers[8D]

Update - Called DCX 800# and tried the options that qzking mentioned above. I think they must have changed the VRU menus because those didn't work. With some slightly different VRU button pushing, I was talking with Bernard. Bernard found my order in the system and after a short "hold" he came back and told me, "Ah...your car is in production." I asked if I had a VIN# to which he replyed, "No." I then asked if he could give me the Order Status code and, after a short pause, he said, "Production... ah, P." At that point I knew Bernard didn't know much so I thanked him and closed the call.

I'll contact my Dealer (Fleet Manager) and ask him to look it up in his system (assume they can do that?).

Nomad,
Got the same thing my first and second attempts, but each time the person who helped me seemed interested in my car. At least I thought the service/enthusiasm was better than most cutomer service tortures.

The brampton site will be a lot of fun and frustration. I flipped out a couple of times on speckler! He understands and is a real "stand-up guy"! Mention my name in a real pinch!
KK

Hang in there. It will all come together.

Well, since I started this thread I suppose I should update it now that I have acquired my SRT-8. Turns out that my order (accepted by Dodge in August) was on HOLD do to "materials shortage". That was the total of the information I was able to get from DCN Customer Service. My Dealer wasn't able to find out much more. So, not wanting to wait indefinately, I canceled my order with my Dealer (they were very nice about it) because I found, in just a few minutes on-line, over SIX Magnum SRT-8's in the Western US on Dealer's floors. I bought one with all of the options at below MSRP and will pick it up early Nov. And, I'll get a nice little road-trip out of the deal which will include a stop by the Zoomer folks in Irvine for a little "audio" up-grade [8D]

Well, I will say this, Dodge could take a page out of Corvette's book on Build and Delivery interaction with the Customer. When a customer orders a "mark" auto from a Dealer that is just the beginning of the "intereactive" process that customer is looking for. Most of us would like to be engaged in the Build process and [the Vette] folks know how to do this very well. I'm not familiar with the Viper order program but would expect a bit more attention to the customer than what Dodge seems to want to provide the Dodge SRT-8 customer. I believe what hdcouple was looking for, and didn't get, was this type of interactive buying experience.

I was/am will to accept that Dodge isn't interested in developing the same kind of customer interest/loyalty that some other "mark" auto makers provide. So, I chose to find a Magnum SRT-8 already built with the options I wanted. hdcouple might take the same approach if one hasn't already been acquired. I expect there won't be such a high premium being placed on those sitting on Dealers floors at this point. And, if hdcouple still can't find one for under MSRP...give the web a try. Road Trips are fun
