$10,000 over full sticker price ???
I went to my local (Torrance, CA) dealer yesterday. After test driving a magnum srt8 (one hell of a car) and indicating that I wanted to buy it, the salesperson told me that the cost would be $10,000 over full sticker price (bringing the total cost to about $53,000 - plus our local 8% sales tax, etc.). After the "meeting with the manager," the salesperson indicated that they might be able to go down to $7500 over invoice. I walked.
Has anybody else had this experience, and do you think that they will be able to keep doing this as the model year progresses?
Thanks.
P.S. The reference to "invoice" (as opposed to "sticker") in the original post was a typo.

I'd continue to keep walking....there's no way I'd pay that much money for that car.....
That said, there are lots of places trying to rip people off like that....it's a common occurrence. I'm saying that for all dealerships.....Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Toyota, etc....
There are some good ones and some bad ones...just depends on where ya live and where ya go...

Ya, he's trying to cathc you as someone thats clueless. My dealer tried that up here in canada, asking 58,900 for a loaded SRT8, after ive been building them online, and looking at windows stickers online for a max price of 53,8. Same with my monthly payments, there like, well itll be around 900 a month.. and agian, using dc's own tools, it spits out payments of 710 a month.. lol they must really hose some people.
Yeah. I guess next time I'll wear a suit and tie to the dealer so that I look a little smarter.
BTW, there was a mistake in my original post. They were actually asking $10,000 over the full sticker price, which is even crazier.

Brutal. Its always nice to know that things can be worse. My salesman was actually pretty good. I could tell from the look on his face that he knew he was gonna lose the sale when he told me about the $10,000. Maybe I'll buy one in January after things settle down.
I think they are making up the prices to catch those people out there that are not aware of the real price of the car like us here in the Dodge forums. Also, there are people that can care less of the markup cause they have money to burn and they just want it!
Just think of the 300c SRT8. I hear the OEM sticker price on that guy is 51k. I wonder how much they are going to tack on top of that! 51-53k for a Charger SRT8? The vettes and other real hot sports coupes are starting to look better to me in that price range.
