Welcome to DF. Check out the marnum forum someone there probably knows something that works perfect for your car. One I have heard of is brake dust shields. I have seen them in parts stores, don't know how good they would be, never tried. Always thought they would restrict air across pads and make them hotter which leads to faster deterioration, but that's my opinion. It's something you can try if you want.
The fine folks at SRT have apparentally perfected a new brake pad compound that will be squeak AND dust free (well, not completely dust free, but alot better than what we're experiencing). According to our comrade 06MNRT, who has been corresponding with SRT, these new pads should be out in about 6 weeks once DCX has had enough time to muster up the parts.
I am new to the dodge forum.Just purchased an '06 magnum SRT8........needless to say ,it HAS in fact surpassed all of my expectations. I'm looking for the latest info on the brake pad fix anmd also have a question to anyother 6.1 L SRT8 owners,I've got a thousande miles on my MAGNUM and when I start her up in the morning I get a small blue cloud of smoke ??? anybody else notice this ?
Blue cloud of smoke? That is not normal and you should go see your dealer immediately.
The brake issue is about 6 weeks from a fix.
The brake dust will most likely always be an issue to some degree because high performance brakes do create a lot of dust. Any system, on any car, that's just the way it is.

Will we have to pay for the brake fix or will the dealer be notified and take care of the problem?

I dropped my Magnum SRT8 at the dealer two days ago for the Service Update (not a recall) for the brakes... ie. slotted rotors and different pads, which costs nothing. As luck would have it, upon arrival to pick up the car today I immediately noticed the lack of slotted rotors!? The dealer installed the wrong rotors, in fact they (re)installed new but standard rotors. However, they did install upgraded pads! Hurray. They were pretty embarassed that I was the one to point out the problem, a bit disconcerting none the less. As consolation they let me keep my Dodge/Chrysler Sebring loaner for another day, thanks Dodge.
