Default what cam should i use??

I just found out that my head gasket is blown on my 318and ima go ahead and push the rebuild for the motor sooner than i planned, but i was wondering what cam would be the best for street use. Im looking for some powerbut i want afairly smooth idle, i was thinking of a mild comp cam. Any ideas and tips on what to look for? thanks!

A comp 268would be a fantastic choice.I have run them in 318's and liked the way they perform. It will have a slight chop to the idle but nothing that will requirea stall converter or steeper gears. This cam makes tons of torque and good midrange power.

Agree. It is important to know what gearing you have now and whether you plan to keep it. For that 268 you'll want at minimum 3:23 gears, preferrably 3:55's
