Our 1971 Demon...dialup, grab a sandwich.
we also like the TA style hood, as i dont think that ive seen one on a demon before, and i like being different. while its been a headache finding the parts (since it was someone elses project), the car was still a deal...i paid more for the laser...
another question for you guys...
ive not had the car on a scale yet, but ive been looking around for weights, and ive found that in 1972, the demon weights were as follows:
slant 6-2885
demon v8-2975
demon 340-3210
does anyone know what was changed from the base V8 to the demon 340 that caused a jump in weight? i figured that the 340 had the heavy duty springs, brakes, and rearend...am i on the right track? anything else? i do have front discs, rear drums, and front and rear sway bars...although i dont think that they were an option. i do not have power steering or AC, although those were options on the 340 models.
thanks for the info!

If I'm not mistaken, the 340's were backed by 727s when they were automatics, and the 318's were 904s. That wouldn't make up that much of a difference though. The 340 cars had 8&3/4 rears also. Single versus dual exhausts added a few pounds as well. Still hard to come up with 235 pounds though.
Along with the items mentioned above, consider that a lot of 340 cars had scoops and a rear wing. I think the numbers you have are average weights based on a well optioned car.
FYI, the demon weighed in at 3141...and today it ran 13.59 through the exhaust, with the 3.23 gears...almost trapping 2nd gear...
