Default swapping tranny

Hello everyone,
A friend of mine has a 69 dart with the 340 motor and standard transmision. He wants to put in an automatic. Can anyone tell me what tranny would require the lease amount of mods to install. Im sure you folks will probably need more info on his car. Please let me know what specs you need and i will find out. Hope you can help

A good old 727 is the way to go. With the trans hump in place, it will be easy to install an aftermarket cable shifter. Make sure he gets the correct torque converter, it should have no counter weights on it. Converters with counter weights are for externally balanced 360's. 273,318 and 340's are internally balanced. Find the largest after market trans cooler possible, since you are not using the radiator for fluid cooling, you will need a cooler for rv's and trucks to handle the fluid cooling.
The cross member might need to be modified, not sure. The drive shaft shoul dwork, yolk sizes are the same for standards and 727's. Get your self a good flex plate. I recomend a solid one from Mopar Performance. Get the correct size bolt holes to match the converter, there are two sizes for flex plates/converters. Make sure you have plenty of high pressure rubber hose or a set of steel lines for fluid circulation

I dont check in here very often, if you need help, PM me and I will be happy to assist
