Default More Dart Questions

So my wife 'convinced' me to put off the 6.1 hemi swap into my 69 Dart GT Convertible. So, I'm back to building the 69 340 I have in the shop.

Just curious, would the engine have been painted orange, blue or teal for 69?

Also, with my research on the hemi swap I have found that a 6.1 hemi will bolt up to a small block tranny. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the 5 speed auto tranny behind the hemi, but I'm thinking it should bolt right up to my 340, right? (killin' two birds with one stone- I'll have a 5 speed tranny for my 340, which will ultimately bolt right up to a 6.1 hemi in the future-which at that point would be one less cost to run by the wife)

Any help/advice/insight would be great!

I just read that before 1970 the engine was blue, but after it was orange as in my Demon. Now Yearone claims red.....

In '69 & '70, most were supposed to be red, but some were painted orange (depended on assembly plant). All '68s were red, with the '71 & up versions being blue.

Could also be a carry over from '70 production, if your car is an early '71 car. One thing to ALWAYS keep in mind with Ma Mopar, is that no rules were ever absolute....
