Hellow everyone, A little about my dart.Sorry For The Long Post In Advance. Last Feb. Of 05 One Of My
Friends Of The Family Was Killed In A Car Wreck. His Mom Gave Me His
Dodge Dart Cause Me And Him Would Always Talk About Him Getting The
Dart On he Road. It Has Been Sitting Now For About 6 Years. I Have It
In My Brothers Garage About 80 Miles From Me So I Can't Work On It
Much Right Now But I Did Go Last Weekend To Get It Started. The First
Time I Tried To Start It It Wasn't Getting Fire To The Plugs So I
Purchased A New Cap,Rotor And The Thing In The Distributor (Looks
Like Points). Then It Started Getting A Very Low Spark But Not Enough
To Start And Run. And It Was Getting Fuel To The Carb Then. OK I Came
Back Home And Last Weekend I Went And Purchased A (ECU Or What Is
Also Called A Spark Amplifier) Mounts On The drivers Side Fenderwell
(Factory Part). After Installing This We Primed And Cranked And
Primed And Cranked But No Fuel Reached The Fuel Filter And Finally It
Did Try To Start. So I Ran To The Parts Store And Purchased A New
Fuel Pump, Filter, Fuel Line. After Installing It Started Getting
Fuel To The Carb.Let Me Back Track Just Before I Left To Get The Fuel
Pump. We Had A Battery Charger Hooked To The Battery. We Were Back
Behind The Car When We Heard My Brothers Dog Yelp. We Went Up In
Front Of The Car Where He (Dog) Was And We Noticed A Bare Spot On The
Power Cord. We Fixed The Problem And I Left To Get The Fuel Pump.
After Installing The Fuel Pump And Started Getting Fuel To The Carb
Still No Spark Again, We Checked Everything Again. I Wiggeled The
Starter Wires And The Engine Started Cranking Over On Its Owne So I
Knew It Had A Short Down On The Starter. I Pulled The Starter And It
Had A Bare Spot On The Small Wire Going To The Solinoid. I Fixed That
And Reinstalled The Starter. Tried Cranking again And Never Could Get
A Spark To The Plugs Again. We Checked Everything And Everything Is
Getting Fire Except The Thingy That Looks Like Points Under The
Distributor Cap. Bit The Wire Is Getting Spark Up To The Connector So
I'm Thinking That This May Have Shorted Out Either By The Battery
Charger Or Maybe By The Starter. Any Other Suggestions? Also This Has
Nothing To Do With The Starting Problem But When I Pressed The Clutch
Pedal Down It Hit The Floor, After Looking At The Pedal I Noticed It Is Suppost To Have A Clip
Of Some Kind That Ataches The Pedal To The Rod Going To The Clutch.
Does Anyone Know Where I Can Get This Clip From? I Don't Know What It
Looks Like Cause It Is Missing. Thanks And Give Me Your Thoughts.

Man,where to start! Try replacing the ballast resistor on the drivers firewall, its a ceramic block with wires attached to either end.

get a hot battery, you may not be getting enough voltage to the ignition system through the jumper cables

Very seldom will the reluctor or pickup go bad in an electronic distributor,if you replaced either you may vave the air gap wrong, this will cause weak or no spark, this gap has to be set with a NON MAGNETIC feeler gauge,if you just replaced the rotor, dont worry about the gap,if you messed it up too bad, take the distributor to a shop and have it repaired or get a remanned one from the parts store, they are not very expensive

Year one has all sorts of Mopar parts from trim screws to replacement quarter panels, give them a try on the clutch retaining clip

Is this an 8 or 6 cyl car?

Have you checked to see if you're getting spark from the coil? Old coils can give up the ghost just from sitting. Ballast resitor needs to be checked.

THE clips your looking for can still be purchased at your local chry/dodge/jeep dealership it's listed in the performance catalog .number p4529448 or p4529489 .also check your coil pull the coil wire off the cap and hold it 1/4in from ground and have someone crank engine over .if no spark chk following coil /ballast resistor /pick up and reluctor wheel in dist /and also check for condition of elec connector at lower section of steering colume that goes to ign switch they sometimes get hot and melt the connector due to accessive resistance.theres also the scratch test to test your module .first pull two wire plug apart at dist .note cap must be on dist and turn ignition on to run now hold coil wire about 1/4in from ground and scratch ground with the male connection of wireing harness plug that plugs into dist .if you get spark your module/coil /ign switch/and run side ballast resistor is good.
