If you have no high speed buffing experience,I'd HIGHLY suggest an Orbital , Sears has a great 10" one (in an Oblong bucket) $40 or so if you get it on sale ... It comes with a nice wax applicator bonnets (disposible)... Nice terry and wool bonnets

If you want a high speed porter cable or the meguiars one

I purchased an Ultimate Detailing Machine (google for url) and it is polisher similar to the Porter Cable but more power. I use 5-in Lake Country CCS pads with a Mothers polish (a good entry polish, there are many options out there on polishes for more correction). If you invest in a good polisher (> $125) be sure to get a PC or UDM or Meg's G110. There are other options if you want to spend more. As long as it is not a rotary, you cannot do that much harm unless you drop it on the hood, etc.

Welcome to the I want power club.

I've got a Porter Cable dual action polisher that I bought from http://www.autogeek.net/. They have a good forum for figuring out detailing and have awesome sales. If you sign up at their store I think they still have free shippng on purchases over $75. The polisher is pretty much begginer user friendly and you really have to work at it to damage the paint.

That is the same polisher and pads I have, but I didn't buy the polish with mine. Pinnacle is what I have. That being said I haven't seen a product that this company doesn't stand behind. Wolfgang is better than any products you'll buy off the shelf at a common auto parts store. A lot of people also swear by the Menzerna product line on that site. Take look at their videos, they'll help you a lot. http://www.auto-geek.net/video/light...l_removal.html

In what I call the entry dual action polishers, there are 3 products.

1. PC 7424 (what you selected)
2. Ultimate Detailing Machine by PerfectShine
3. Meguiar's New G110 (replaces the G100)

The PC was originally adopted by detailers. It has a proven record since it has been out there and used by many detailers. The UDM is a newer product released last year and offers supposed 20% more power. Users of the PC may say the PC will bog down (stop rotating) at higher speeds when doing correction in some cases. Meg's G100 was essentially a relabled 7424 but with a life time warranty. The new G110 has specs slightly better than the UDM.

see this link

I think you will be happy with any of them but just wanted you to know the choices. The UDM is going to be updated later this year.

BTW, if you order from AG, use ago for the coupon code to get free shipping (order over $75). Consider the polishes, etc when you order to decide if you really need the package deals. If you only plan to do light swirl removal, etc. it may be better to buy just the pads/polishes you need rather than a kit. Some items are not really a must such as the pad cleaner (Dawn works fine) and conditioner (instant detailer works if needed). There are some good videos on AG using the XMT polishes.

I have the UDM. I would have probably got the Meg's G110 if it had been available since it has a lifetime warranty. Users of the UDM say it does vibrate less than the PC (on pads less than 6-in) which was why I decided to go to the UDM.
