I've always wanted to claybar my car but the thought of paying $17.99 for the kit and then having it get dirty a few days later is...[&:]

try the turtlewax ice claybar. its a car wash and claybar in one. just rinse your car down, applay the liquid claybar/wash to the included sponge, and rub in a back and forth motion, not circles. need to use a little pressure. when clean, rinse then dry. then apply turttle wax ice synthetic car polish. no swirl marks and shines like crazy.

The griots product work very well. My dad has the kit and I used it on my camaro and it worked awesome.

If you want to win this is what you should do/get.
Ok first identify you paint. Look for those nasty swirl marks. (Swirl marks come from drying your car with a bath towel, using a dirty sponge, etc. If you dont have any swirl marks then be glad.
Now the fun begins. Use 2 buckets. 1 bucket is just plan water and the other is for your soap. NOTE: Try not to wash/wax in direct sunlight. First spray your tires with whatever wheel cleaner you have. FOLLOW THEIR DIRECTIONS. Clean the wheels/rims first then the car. Next spray your car with water (some people use a hose sprayer filled with soap tospray sudsto lube the paint). Fill your wash mit/sponge with alot of suds and wash from top to bottom and rinse your sponge in the plain water often to get the dirt out. Rinse off your car after you washed it. You dont want the soap to dry on the paint. Use the shop Vac with the blowing action (you did get one that can do that right?) to blow the water out the hard to reach areas. Use the Microfiber drying towels and dry your new clean baby. FOLLOW ALL YOUR PRODUCTS INSTRUCTIONS AND READ THE WARNINGS. Research these products or any your thinking about using before you use them. I'm not responsible for any damage to your car paint. I do not endorse any of these products. My opinions are based on my research and or use.

Things To Get
1. Car Wash shampoo (Soap)
2. Microfiber towels
3. Wash mits or a good sponge
4. Tire brush
5. Shop Vac
6. Sonus Clay Bar kit (I've read its easy to use for people new to the Clay Bar).
7. Armor All Extreme Tire Gel (It comes in a orange bottle with a applicator pad). I use it all the time. Gives that wet look.
8. Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 (I'm about to buy this I read that it gives a high gloss to the paint. Its new for 08).
9 2 buckets (try to find the ones with the GRIT GUARDS.
10. Armor All for the interior panels.
11. Stoners Invisible Glass Spray (I love that stuff) Apply with the blue Shop Rags).
12. Shop Towels (Blue ones)
13. Microfiber drying towels
14. Carpet and spot remover cleaner
15. Wheel cleaner (Armor All Triple Action Wheel Cleaner)
16. Swirl mark remover polish (if you need it) I heard Meguiars is good.
17. Black Magic Detailing Brushes

Karr actually has a nice to do list . I do every number but the wax and polish. I have my own dry vac and will be getting my own water compresser like at the carwashes and tire compresser so I wont have to air up my tires at the gas station anymore. Actually going to be cleaning my interior and vaccuming her out from the winter today.
