What's a Good Wheel Polish
I just picked up a set of Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's but they are in need of some serious work. They are not pitted, they just look dull. Has anyone tried that Flitz Ball and their polish?
I've used several different Metal Polish products, and all of them seemed to work well. There are two types of metal polish, one chemical and one has abrasive properties. I'd suggest if the wheels are just dull, look for a chemical polish. I have never used the "Flitz" ball, but I know others who have and their only complaint that I heard that after washing it, it looses it's effectiveness.
if the rims are chrome and have a dull finish...that usually means the plating is seperating from the steel....its the beginning of the end!!
Forutunatly for you...Boyd uses alluminum, usually a dull finish on an alluminum rim is only on the clear coat....heres your fix...
You can lightly sand the rims to get the clear coat off, then run ultra sand paper (1500-2000 grit...water sand only) on the whole rim...nearly to the priginal polished look (this takes a while...but its worth it!!) After that use either mothers or never dull (never dull is my preferance) polish on the whole rim. Then use prep-sol (found at most parts stores) to strip the film from the polish...this will actually make them gleam even better. Most people would then clear coat the rims....and BANG!! A brand new rim...GOOD LUCK!!

I've had some pretty good luck with Wenol products. I purchased it online and it worked great. Here's a link if your interested.
