Default Paint overspray

I bought a 99 Dodge Ram in January and the truck is very clean except for on the tailgate. There are little black paint dots on it as well as the rear bumper on the chrome. Does anyone have any ideas what I can try to get it off? Just detailed it and can;t seem to get the spots off. I know that they can come off because I managed to pick one of them off with my fingernail. I know that that is not the best way to do it but i wanted toi be sure they could come off before i asked about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what kind of paint is it??(the black dots)

if it is latex paint (house paint), which it sounds like it is, it should come right off... you could actually try a few different things...

was it clay barred while being detailed?

the easiest way would be to buy this product that is supposed to take spray paint off cars... like "anti vandal" or something, I know vandal is in the name..

You could try a bug and tar remover, or something like "goof off", just make sure to give the truck a real good wash after.

Wet sanding, if you dont know how to or havent before, please dont do it.... but wash, wet sand, polish, wash, wax.

and last, you could pick at it with a plastic razor blade and make sure to polish, wax, and wash after.
if you dont have much experience at car detailing I would suggest doing the last one, it cant really hurt the truck unless you throw the razor blade at the truck..

clay magic does work quite well but sometimes it can leave the finish looking dull. if you have a wheel and know how to use it, you should have no problem. or you could apply polish by hand. if you do wheel it, the best thing i have ever used for swirl mark remover is perfect it II hand glaze from 3M. i have even used a little bit of thinner to remove over spray or splatter. but i have alot of experience with body work. and you have to be real carful. so the the thinner doesnt take off the clear coat.

Agreed, my buddy does body work professionally and when I work with him he only lets me use some product, I don't remember what, but it's weaker than thinner, then strong abrassive compound and then mild compound. If an area is a real problem, we'll wet sand then ompound. Really a lot easier than it all sounds.

If you don’t know for sure it’s paint overspray, it could be a fungus called “artillery fungus”. These spots are the mold spores that are blasted into the air from a fungus in the ground and your truck is where they landed. Most of my spots where all about the same size and raised slightly. Sound far fetched? It’s not. The mold lives usually in wood or bark mulch. These fungus spores are called “nature’s super glue” because they are next to impossible to remove. Been there, done that.
