Who has most miles on there Dodge Cummins?
Just wondering how long these things last. The whole truck not just Cummins. Name your year and engine(some years have two types of engine.) Is your truck still in great shape or has it become a work truck?
191,400miles - 98 2500 24 valve. Still in great shape. Transmission repaired @ 160k, new steering column @ 180K, new fuel pump back in 03, new alternater @ 180K, front u joints @ 180k. Brakes seem to be only regular problem.

2002 with 575,000 miles. Not sure which engine, or if they offered more than one, but it is the biggest they had, and a 6 spd. It gets a lot of new parts, suspension mostly, but it is still running strong. Now it needs a new inner cover seal, plus 5'th gear is out and needs double clutched to work.
Now if I could only get my boss to start putting quality parts as replacements instead of the bottom of the line Napa. Even our mechanic can't convince him it will save money.

my buddy had a 2 gen cummins my friends and I called it Big Red she rolled 600,000 miles and has broken over 5 trainsmissions ever since the bought it new. it was mainly a logging truck. then at 187k they put a stage two turbo and was running low tens on the drag strip.
Got talking to a guy awhile ago about his cummins and he said his buddy had a 98 with 820,000 miles on it, He drives 250 miles to work(125 each way)

I just bought my '11 2500 6.7 Cummins this week so the measly 165 miles really doesn't fit here. My father is a diesel mechanic and HIGHLY recommended getting the Cummins over the Power Stroke Ford. I must make a confession, I am a die hard Ford man, have been for over 20 years. I had owned 3 F-150's, 03, 05, 08, prior to this and have 3 Mustangs now so this Dodge purchase was hard for me to do. I am overly impressed with the power, room, ride and overall performance of the Ram. I plan on putting 500K+ on this and keep it forever so I will be looking forward to hearing how to make it run forever on here. Any suggestions for making it last longer directly from the showroom? Take care!

I only have 190 on 24V Cummins but my dad has a 97 3500 12V and its got 590,000 on it Had a transmission rebuild at 250 which is typical for the Dodge Heavy Duty as far as the motor goes its had a starter replaced and an altinator thats all what a sweet motor, Paint has shot over time but the thing is a work horse it will out pull my 24V any day of the week.
