Day One.
Hello I'm new to this. Not really to Dodge trucks my first was a 98 1500 318. the best vehicle I've ever owned. Had it from day one, but now she has been sent to the farm. Really a farmer picked it up to use on his farm. I felt bad getting rid of it, other than a water pump that truck gave me no problems. But I used it to pull a fifthwheel it was ok in Alberta but here there are to many hills and needed something bigger, so I went over kill with the 5.9 2500. I'm hoping for the same success. It doesn't need to be chipped for more power the trailer is only 3700 lbs but would you do the air intake and exhaust for better fuel milage? Glad you stopped in and look forward to viewing all post and hearing from all of you.
Absolutely not.
Skip the intake. The stock bits are excellent.
Exhaust you're not going to really find any gains either. The only real reason to spend the money is if you want a different sound.

my advice is smooth out the airflow, if you ever watch a automotive show they always say make the engine breath better and that means intake and exhaust. we all know that colder, denser air means better combustion and you dont get that with a stock set up. go to your local book store and pick up an issue of diesel power magazine or go to dieselpowermag.com and read some of the tech articles, knowledge is power that's why i do my research first then use the forum to see who's made what mileage/power gains with what power train setups
