Ive got a 05 2500 auto and according to the computer I average right around 15. Mostly city driving with the occasional 2-3 hour drive on the highway. It doesnt seem too bad but I thought Id be able to do better. I do have a autostart and a turbo timer, and I am usually caring about 425 liters (110 gallons) of fuel in my tidy tank so Im sure that isnt a big help but still, I was hoping for a little better

You cant trust those computers. They are ok for a general idea but if you want to know exactly, you have to hand calculate it.

Jayhall - That does seem low... I've got an 06 MegaCab and if I'm nice on the highway I can average 18... I've been seeing slightly higher averages as the truck ages (saw 19.5mpg last week to/from work via highway). I hand verify mine from time to time and it's been .5mpg high consistently, so I've come to trust the guage.

Are you running bigger tires or a lift? I don't think hauling that extra fuel would hurt you that bad, especially considering the weight I'm lugging around with my MC.

Nah I am 100% stock. Keep in mind I dotn reset my computer every trip I make. I havent done a whole lot of highway recently either. I noticed a huge improvment once I changed the fuel filter which obviously I was quite happy with. Next time I burn and hour or more down the highway I'll reset it and see what that average is. I notice a slight vibration from the front driveshaft at 80mph so I tend to keep it under that and just use cruise.

where are you working in Ft Mac? Do you live right in town? I was at suncors SAGD site in Mckay River last year for about 6 months. I know the area a little bit and Im just trying to draw a picture of the kind of driving you do to get that mileage

Yay, someone that's been in my neck of the woods... I don't think that's happened around here yet..

Yes, I live right in Fort Mac, in Thickwood. My commute to work runs me from Thickwood up Supertest, past Suncor/Syncrude out to CNRL Horizon and back. Average speed is around 100 for most of it, not too many slow ups usually. I'm a right lane traveller unless I'm passing someone. There's some guys up here that are just nuts on that road... I'd rather let them roll past so I can see them if they are going to do something stupid. lol. On occasion they surprise me and don't.

Its getting busy up here again, new projects are rolling, expansions are happening fast, we should be in for a good run again.

Why not try to find a 06 5.9 and trade up... if your struggling with your hemi, it'd be totally worth it. I got so peaved at my 07 Hemi 3/4 of the way through the lease I pulled the trigger on my 06, and have never been happier. Do you have something to haul around to justify it atleast?

ok so you are on hwy 63 for a good long time. Right now where Im working is about 20 minutes from my front door so a lot of city driving right now.

I know what you mean about some of the drivers on that road, just insane. I heard the highway upgrades are almost done now and the new bridge is open. Good to see that moving forward. We didnt get called up to finish up the project we started last year. I dont think the company we were hired to work for made a very good impression. Hopeful for a big job at firebag though. New landfill going in as I recall. We might get the call for that one!

I don't pull anything other than trucks out of the mud. My main reason is that my 1500's suspension can't take too much lift and big tires like a 2500, I really wan't 37's without messing stuff up. I know that the 2500 can come in a hemi, but I want the Cummins. Mostly because you can do so much with a diesel. I'd have that thing black somking everywhere I go lol. And as far as trading in my truck, I probably won't anytime soon, but my next truck will be a cummins whenever that is.
