shifting issues in pops 07 5.9 4x4

My Dads got an 07 5.9 diesel 4x4 (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/#) with an automatic trans... I joined this forum because hes got a shifting problem and a low budget! can anyone help? Hes says it shifts hard through all the gears and doesnt want to go into over drive once its warmed up...
