Thanks for the link. Went there and went to their BHAF link and found the filter, but it said it won't fit '03 up.
I was looking at AFE's site last night they have some nice kits with the pro dry S filters (non oiled). What is your opinion of these kits and filters ? They have one they say adds 14 HP & 27 Lbs. torque and outflows OE filter by 105%. They have another that adds 21 HP & 53 Lbs. torque and outflows OE by 80%. This seemed odd to me because I would have thought that the higher the flow the more HP & torque, but apparently not so.

their increased hp torque crap is all bs.

I run an AFE on my twins though. As long as it is not oiled, you'll be fine. with one

I was wondering about the accuracy of their claims. Which one would you recommend ? I would think the higher flow would be better.
To go oiled I might as well stay with the K&N and that's what I want to get away from. Would the conical drop in in the stock box improve what I have now or should I go with the new airbox ?
After seeing that site that showed the turbo with the K&N I'm almost afraid to look at the turbo. Can that stuff be removed from the turbo with brake cleaner or just wiped out with a clean rag ?
Thank you for your time and valuable info.

I would probably stick to a rag..suppose you could use brake clean...just give it an hour or so to fully evaporate before you close it up or try to start the truck...definitely don't want brake clean going through the intake to get ignited by the grid heater...

probably best to spray the rag and just wipe if it even gunked up your turbo.

even a paper filter is better than the K&N. anything you can do to get away from the oiled filter. BHAF would be an improvement, but if you can't find one that will work with your truck, then a paper filter will be fine till you decide to do performance upgrades.

I got the WIX 4" pleated filter today and put it in. Pulled the air tube and looked at the turbo wheel. It was a bit discolored from the oil, but no signs of dirt or grit and no dirt or grit in the air tube either. The K&N appears to be intact as far as I could see so it seems I caught it in time.
I was going to take out the silencer ring while I had the air tube off but someone had beat me to it. I don't notice any noise coming from the turbo just a bit of whine coming up a hill or accelerating but that's not under a load or pulling a trailer. It may be louder under a load, we'll see.
