Default 02 ram 1500 question for cummins experts

I have a 2002 ram 1500, I know the cummins engines are made for 2500 and 3500 but is there any way I could drop one in my 1500?

been done plenty of times before...

most common swaps are with the 94-98 P7100 pumped 12v motors.

24v are less common because of electronics or extra cost of converting it to P7100 to ditch electronics.

Depends on what you do to it. If you're looking for a cool daily driver, the 9.25" rear end (or whatever the AAM equivalent is) should hold up just fine at stock power levels. If you're looking to haul a 30k pound car hauler, you're going to grenade stuff.

Yeah I don't plan on going nuts, just dropping a diesel in if I can, lifting it and new wheels so it'll be alright

stock power will be fine...if you plan on performance mods the rear end(s) will need to be addressed...

example if you plan on going nuts like I did...you need a D80 rear and D60 front with a 241HD xfer case and either a built auto, or an HD manual trans..
