I have a small custom bodyshop we also do paint&build bikes,I have a fella who wanted to give me a 2005 4 Dr laramie cummins all options new tires,flatbed to work on a 56 powerwagon firetruck it was just gonna be new body mounts undercoating on a paint job which for sure is worth it.
Well he just informed me that the transmission went out on it I haven't call around yet to see how much the trans work will be anyone know?If I don't wanna do the job I can buy it as it sits for probablly around 7k.I was looking for a second gen 12 valve club cab long bed to buy what do you fellas said no about these trucks think?Guy down the road has the same year left it on 37's on it looks bad a$$ I just really like long beds but seems like of the trans isn't a lot it'd be a deal.
Maybe Ill lift it & do some big wheels and tires &it'll grow on me of not I can sell get the 2nd gen I want & pocket some cash.My lifted 2nd gen gasser is a headache...I almost bought a duramax just because I love the body but then the cummins guys would probably make me feel inferior lol

You could sink between 3-7k into a transmission, depending on how silly you want to go and who does the work. Or it could be a stupid simple fix. You'd really have to know what's wrong with the trans.

If you can buy the truck for 7k I'd jump on it, so long as the rest of the truck is OK. If the front or rear ends are busted, steering is shot, or motor is cooked too you might be better off walking away.
