Default 2006 Cummins. Crank no start.

My truck cranks but doesn’t start without starting fluid. Don’t know much about diesels, this was my dads project at the time before he passed. I thought at first it may be the grid heater but it’s so hot outside the truck should start without. There’s no smoke at all coming from the tail pipe when Cranking. Dad thought it was the injectors before and spent lots of time working on them so I know the injectors are good. Fuel rail pressure reads 1330Psi when cranking and around 6k when running. 6+ months ago he had the truck running great until I took it down the road, the belt had slipped off I believe but we could never get it going again.

Do you still need to use starting fluid when the engine is warmed up? Or will it crank/start normally?

Think I might be tempted to verify grid heater function in any event.....
