Default Would you buy a fully deleted/tuned CTD

I have been looking around for a truck to replace mine ( 2013 2500 5.7 Hemi). What I seem to be finding on used CTD 3500 is 80% are deleted and tuned. I assume this means the DEF system is gone and engine has been tuned to run without it for more power. My question is, is it worth buying or should I find one with the DEF system intact. Will it damage the engine without it long term. This will be my first purchase of CTD, I don’t want to get screwed. Been reading up on things here on it. It’s just makin me nervous. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

The purpose of DEF was to reduce particulate emissions. (soot...) If the filter is still there, without the def, it will clog up, and the truck will stop running. If it has been removed, and tuned out, then just not an issue. Unless, of course, you live in an area where they do emissions testing. Without the filter, etc, it will fail right quick. (visual inspection.)

My problem with the newer ones is, that filter will eventually have to be replaced in any event, and they are NOT cheap......

Ok, where is the filter located? So I can visually check. I live in Alabama, so no inspection that I know of.
