I need help replacing a blower motor switch on a '97 Avenger. Went to junkyard and removed a blower switch from behind the control bezel but in the process pretty much destroyed the plastic housing for the ac/heater/fan switches. I removed the radio and face plate and could not get the switch housing out without messing up the cables, dstroying the rectangular plastic box that holds all the knowbs for HVAC. But was really frustrating was that I couldn't pull the temp or airflow ***** off to get to the plastic face plate that must be removed in order to remove the plastic nut that holds the shaft of the blower switch.

I couldn't believe how difficult it was to disassemble the entire unit. After I was done destroying and had the switch in my hand I tried to pry the temp **** off with a screw driver and think I got it off without breaking by pushing on the **** shaft. Can anyone confirm that this is the proper way to remove the *****?

The real question is how the heck can the entire dash unit be removed without destroying the cables, etc? Seems like an impossible task to replace a simple switch.

 

the ***** pry off fairly easy I used two butter knifes her side and pried up on the left/right back and forth ...
to rempve the cables ect is a tricky job as there is not much slack , I removed the radio and cage ten used a mirror and light to remove the cables
