Default Alternator question

Has anyone out there had their alternator and battery fail all at once on a 2012 Avenger with the 4 cylinder engine? Mine did at 67650 miles and 12 days after the extended warranty ran out!!! Needless to say, I am not a happy camper about it because it cost me $400 even with me doing the work. Course I also had to have a friend drive 80 miles to pick up the car up and haul it home. This is the FIRST car, and I have owned Chrysler and Dodge vehicles since 1972, that has failed while we were on the road.

Things happen. We had to replace the alternator on our 09 Journey at about 40,000 miles. We had an extended warranty, so it only cost $100 deductible.

Usually, it's just the Likens, one-way, clutch pulley that fails on the alternators. It's about $65. I just did the one on my wife's Caliber last month with about 62K miles. They get real noisy and sound like the engine is coming apart.

yes its possible....charging a bad battery can work the alternator.
if the shops any good; the battery should be tested at every oil change
