Okay, cheap ride, no problem.
I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger and it came from California USA.
If the used Avenger you guys are eying to purchase and it runs good and records verify frequent Engine Oil Changes have been done plus other scheduled work then, I would highly recommend to change out a rather weak extender PVC hose! This hose is rather thin (At Least on my 2008) and will eventually collapse on itself. My Engine sounded like a Freight Train with the whistle when it did. The important thing to remember is if this hose is blocking the Hot Gases from the Engine it will Carbonized the Intake Runner system and then, you will later get Check Engine Codes P2005, P2006 and P2007 all of which are related to Intake Runner issues. If the runner is carbonized it would require a new one as cleaning would be futile as it will return with the same codes after a few miles. Replacing the intake assembly is not cheap but, it is not that overly expensive either.
What I did was to shop around and I found a Dealer up in New Jersey (the State) and they gave me a terrific deal on the Intake Assemby and then, I proceeded to find the best deal at a Dodge Dealership which I found to be one at Titusville, Florida and I saved about $702.01 Big ones in combined savings from both the part assembly and labor. The original estimate from one Dodge Dealer in Orlando, Florida was a Whopper of $1,347.01 plus tax. The part from the New Jersey Dealer was almost $349.09 shipped and Labor at the Titusville dealer was $245.76 including all shop expenses and that included an Engine Oil Change!
So, you see it takes a insight to change a little tiny PVC Hose to avoid a larger expense.
