I now have 500+ miles on my new Cali. So I started to give more gas here and there, I wasnt expecting much and got even less from my 1.8. So after I get a intake (hope in the next month) and then cat back will the pedal feel more free'er?

I am not asking for miracles, that's why I got this little 4 cylinder, but what other tweeks can be done to gain free HP???

" will the pedal feel more free'er?"

I think your asking will the mpg be better-if you let the engine breath easier
and exhaust easier no doubt it show an increase in both mpg and hp.
How much improvement there will be-who knows as you need to dyno
for hp and mpg is just good old manual calcs.

The real question is HP gains? I dont need numbers from dyno. Im just looking to get my caliber more responsive. I was wonder what to expect, is the stock setup restrictive and all?

Thanks

If you ask 10 different people about the stock intake I'm sure you'll
get 10 different opinions.
After reading posts on the Caliber air intake for 2-1/2 years almost
all who have made the jump to say K&N CAI will tell you they notice
a difference be it a seat of the pants feeling or actual hp/torque
figures from dynos.
The other is slight mpg improvement all at the cost higher levels
of intake noise, my guess is that yes it is restrictive but I am
content 26-29 mpg city for daily driver.
