Default Header vs Manifold

I am looking into getting some boltons for my '08, 1.8. Down the line I will be changing out the Air Intake and cat-back. I am not too familiar with the exhaust manifold, if I swap it for a header will that give me problems, ie give me error codes? Is a header 50 states legal? I thought I saw a statement on a Mopar parts site but when I look at other sites and Headers I dont see and "Off Road" use only warnings.

Thanks,
George

Find out the maker of the piece and talk to them. If the part is engineered correctly for replacing OEM manifold you shouldn't have problems working with the other factory parts. But those are my thoughts, the maker of the part could say otherwise.

Quite a number of 1.8,2.0 and 2.4 Caliber owners have swapped the header
according to posts I have read and none report CEL codes with just the
header,if you mess up the o2 sensor while working on the exhaust then
you definitely expect codes. Most of the swaps were done using the Mopar
supplied header and report no problems with warranty issues as long as
the install was properly done."off road use only" is generally directed to
stage upgrades of the ECM and that is only availiable at this time for the
Caliber SRT4.

If I recall rightly the Mopar header is manufactured by DC MotorSports.

This is correct. As long as the O2 sensors are working and the cat converter is in place, there should be no codes.

Thanks for the input guys. I was not sure what was in the manifold, if there were any emission related sensors or what. Im new to the sport compact world, just used to mustangs that already came with headers.

Next question, will the header for the 2.0 fit my 1.8? I have not seen a header for the 1.8. I herd the cat-back is the same. I guess the manufactures didnt think anybody got the 1.8 so they dont list parts, lol.

Well as all the bare blocks are the same outside dimensions
one would be lead to think it would fit either 1.8 or 2.0.
I checked my pdf copy of the '07 parts manual and it indicates
part #04693321AD exhaust manifold fits 1.8(EBA),2.0(ECN) and
2.4(ED3-non turbo).

Bigtsr is correct. The Mopar/DC Sports header will fit the 1.8, 2.0, and 2.4, it just will not fit the AWD models.
