Thumbs down Problems with Calibers Here.....

I only have 9000 miles on my 07 Caliber and have driven on a few long trips and I guess this is my first complaint. I am going to ask the dealer about if something can be done about it. Maybe you all can tolerate it but on long trips where gas stops are far between, it is important.

Hiway driving at 65mph the fuel gage drops about 125-140 miles per 1/4 tank for the first 1/2 tank of gas so after 250 miles you have 1/2 tank left. 1/2 tank should equate to another 250 miles, yeah sure....NOT.

The last half tank only has about 125 miles left in it before the fillup light comes on.

The gauge should have been logrythmic instead of linear.

This is my biggest complaint so far. Other than that it is a dream to drive.

Does yours have the optional MPG computer in the left gauge pod? Our 09 does not.
My 08 Ram is really close on the gauge all of the way to E. The wife took the Caliber on a trip, but I haven't drove it a long distance to see how it does. It is her around town/to work car usually. It's only got about 1900 mile so it so far.

No complaints yet.

My Ram does the same thing, when the gauge is showing half, I've already burned 16 gallons of fuel, only 5 more till is almost on E and the low fuel light comes on. I was told it was a fault in the sensor and would cost $115 to fix. For $115 I've learned to live with it.

I don't think its a fault in the sensor, I think that was someone trying to sell you something you don't need.

My Dakota did it, my current Ram does it. Every Dodge owner I've talked to before has had the same thing, to one degree or another. Its not quite as bad as yours, Pyro, but the first half a tank definitely lasts longer than the last half, by far.

Most cars seem to be less then linear ... My belief and proving is that there are several gallons left in the tank when it reads "E".. I took my Venge down to "E" Then drove (With a 5 gallon can filled in the back) ...I average near 30 mpg ... 75 miles later the low fuel light came on ...Almost 25 miles later it finally chugged and died ... Thats over 3 gallons after "E"
I'm betting that yours is the same ...
