Warranty void?

Default Warranty void?

My car came with a standard head unit (req) but i recently purchased an upgraded dodge head unit with navigation (rer) i want to install this myself, i have the manual and info i need but my question is will this void my factory warranty that came w/ the car? It's a month old 2010 Caliber Uptown

The only part of the warranty that will be voided will be the actual head unit it self. If you purchased the head unit NEW from a dodge dealer, and you install it your self, most dealers will just VOID that part. Some dealers won't.

Now if you purchased it used, then yes, the dealer will most definately void the radio portion of your warranty.


Every other part of you warranty will be fine though. Powertrain, other electrical, etc...

This is correct. You only void the warranty on the part that you replace unless the part that you installed causes something else to fail and they can prove it. Not usualy a problem, especially with a radio. I upgraded the radio in my Ram not long after I got it with a used 6 disc mp3 unit I bought used on Ebay with no issues.

You need to have it scanned for codes. Many auto parts stores will do it for free.
Post your codes and we will guide you in the right direction.
