Default 2007 Dodge Caliber Dies at Idle

New to the forums, but figured I might as well sign up since I keep having to fix things on my brother-n-laws '07 Caliber SXT.

So, I can get the car to start, but then it goes into a rough idle and dies. The codes I pulled are as follows:

P0300 Misfire Multiple Cylinders
P0303 Misfire Cylinder 3
P0304 Misfire Cylinder 4
P2004 Intake Manifold Runner Stuck Open
P000A Bank 1 Camshaft 1 Position Slow Response
P0522 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

I changed the spark plugs (they were worn down with valleys in them) thinking that might be part of the misfire problem. It did help, the car stays running, but is still a little rough. It surges and you can see the all of the lights inside and out go from dim to normal, back and forth becaues the RPMs drop as it surges. But, as soon as I put the car in gear, it goes to running really rough and dies instantly.

This isn't the original engine, he just had it replace a few months ago due to the other one throwing a rod. I am not sure if this motor is still under warranty but I do know that it came with one from the junk yard where he got it.

I am not sure what to try and fix now. I am thinking I am just going to have him take it somewhere. But, if you guys have any suggestions on how to fix this problem, please let me know, Thanks.

Swap the coils from 1&2 to 3&4 and see id the misfires move with them. If so, it is a coil/boot issue. I hear that the P2004 is a common problem. The flap assembly is not working in the intake manifold. It should not cause a misfire or rough idle, it will usually cost some low end torque when stuck open and the intake runners do not get restricted.
You may have a bad camshaft sensor causing the other problems. It could be throwing the timing off.
I am guessing that the oil pressure code is popping up when the idle dips real low.

Clear the codes and see what comes back.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!!

It is odd that two coils would go at the same time isn't it? I will try that tomorrow anyway, thanks for the response and I will let you know how it turns out.

I have seen on Ford V8's where when one fails, others often follow. They are usually from the same batch. I'm thinking that the cam sensor is the cause of most of the issues.
