Has anybody ever attempted to swap a U.K. 2.0L Common-Rail Diesel into a US Cali? The 2.0L/CVT2 combo really istn't very fuel efficient compared other brand-X compacts out there.

There was a fella thinking about doing a diesel swap into a neon quite a while ago, but I don't think it was attempted. Besides, I'd think it would be pretty straight forward considering the engine, 5spd, and brain come from the same platform. I hear it's a VW engine, just don't know much about them.

 

After some research, it looks like Cali's swapped to the 2.2L CDI mercedes motor for 2010...this is they year I'm thinking about doing the bolt in.

 

If you could find a donor car, you would have everything you need. Just be hard to fine one here in the states.
