Default CVT is out? P0700 and p0777

My wife drove our '07 Caliber 2.0 SXT out the community and found herself pushing the gas but no RPMs. I checked the CEL and got a p0700 and p0777.

P0700-trans Control System malfunction
P0777-Pressure Control Solenoid B Circuit Stuck on

She mentioned that she heard a "metal to metal" noise and stopped immediately (10mph). I pushed the car back and tried to start it but as mentioned, in Drive it hardly goes and it seems that the belt slips and grips back on.

Can I say that the CVT is out, or should I look into the VB and the solenoids as that is what the error code addresses?

I looked online for solenoids and valve bodies, but all I find is Chinese import. I also read that the '07 models are a bit known for CVT issues (as well as many other issues

I don't mind finding a deal on an engine and CVT, but I am also wondering what I run into by just swapping them out.
- Is the stealership required to program anything
- is the CAN bus connected to engine and tranny? ( I know with VW you can swap an engine as long as you keep the ECM)
- Are there any other issues I should watch for?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

The trans should be connected to the CANBUS system. Seems like from what I have read, the CVT is kind of a disposable tranny if it totally fails. It may be as simple as a bad solenoid valve that should be available at a local Dodge dealer.
Perhaps one of the Techs that frequent here can be of more help than me.
