Caliber 1.8 SXT start and power problems
Can someone help me please?
I have a Dodge Caliber 1.8 SXT from 2007. It has a gas-installation.
When cold start, I drive 200 to 300 meters. Then I uncouple and the rpm falls completely to zero and the engine stops.
If I restart the car or recouple when still moving, I can drive on. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times.
If the engine is warm, the car starts like it should.
ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND FLASHES SOMETIMES WITH SOUND!
I also noticed that when the engine Require power for driving uphill he doesn't accelerate or accelerates very slowly. Max speed in 5th gear is 130 km/h (sometimes less)
The engine also shakes when he passes the 4000 rpm.
Spark plugs, ignition coils and two O2-sensors are replaced.
And catalyst is also cleaned.
Now the mechanic says it could be the camshaft sensor?

Welcome to the forum.
What codes are you getting to trigger the CEL?
The cold idle issue almost sounds like a dirty throttlebody and the blade is possibly hanging up on buildup.
After seeing what the codes are, I would check the fuel pressure. The engine may be starving for fuel under heavy loads and high rpm's

Can you explane me where to find the throttlebody and how to clean it?
Fuel consumption is high enough: average of 12.5 L/100km
I'm asking my mechanic for the codes, he didn't replay yet.
THX for helping !!!

I have been searching on the internet for pictures of the
throttlebody and found same of an open one with broken teeth on the gears.

Can it be that the blade doesn't go open all the way?

It is a possibility. If the blade hung up bad enough on buildup in the throttlebody, then it is possible to break off a tooth or two.
I haven't had our 09 2.0 apart yet to clean it. It just hit 36K miles this month, so I can 't give you any tips as far as removing it and inspecting it.
