Default Broken off trunk lid

It just broke off today. Need help quick. I read the other thread but I need more details. Does the 3m double sided tape really hold? Do I need to take out the bolts? Please help

The double sided tape holds pretty good. Did yours pull the threads out of the panel? If so, you can always remove the good ones, take it off. Use brake parts cleaner to clean where the studs were. Get a good 2 part epoxy and glue them back into the panel. Let it set up for about 24hrs then reinstall the panel without over tightening the nuts. You can also use the 3M two sided tape, as well, for added security.

I am guessing that the panel has studs that stick thru the hatch with nuts that go inside the gate to hold it on? I haven't had our 09 apart yet.
