Question 2007 Dodge Caliber 4cyl "Limp Mode"

2007 Dodge Caliber 4cy has 137, 000 miles
on it hasn't been driven in 4mths, Reading code for the control module on the tranny, went into limp mode? Can this be flashed?
Can this need a trans service? Daughter says supposedly told it only has 2nd gear and reverse only. Good scenario bad scenario and how much will it cost for a new control module and how much for labor about?

It has a CVT transmission. It only has 1 Forward gear. I is belt driven with variable pitch pulleys that control the ratios to keep the engine in the peak powerband for optimum performance and economy.
Have you reset the codes? If so, did they return and what codes are they? The trans control is all done by the PCM as far as I know. No separate trans control module.
