Default Idle problem with Manual Trans

My wife actually has a 2007 Jeep Compass, 2.4L, 5-speed manual trans, FrontWD but I'm coming to the Caliber forum because the Jeep forum is worthless. It's the same dang car anyway.

Push in the clutch to change gears and the RPMs have a tendency to jump 500+ RPMs. Anyone have any ideas here? Thanks

No. I think maybe it happens only when the engine is cold. Guessing there's some kind of idle control that increases the RPMs until it warms up. Truthfully, I have a hard time diagnosing this issue cuz I never drive the car. It's my wife's.
