Why I bought the Caliber....
What I Got
Caliber SXT - Inferno Red
CVT II
Aluminum Wheels
Fog Lamps
Speed Control
Daytime Running Lights
Why I Got It
I wanted a smaller automobile that would comfortably carry my two dogs (a Yellow Lab and an Italian Greyhound). I didn't care much for the styling of the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe or the Mazda 3. Fine cars to say the least, but I couldn't see myself driving around town in them. I was prepared to purchase (settle for?) the new 2007 Honda CR-V when it came out. Then along came the Caliber! A compact vehicle that I felt good in! That says a lot since this is my first non-Asian automobile. It does everything that I need and I don't feel like a dork driving it.
About Those Reviews
There have been many good reviews of the Caliber. But Car & Driver and Mototrend have not been too kind on the subjective front. All I can say is, I'm going on my third week of ownership and couldn't be happier. That's the bottom line, is it not? I knew exactly what I was getting and they are idiots
. Two things that should matter to everyone is Safety and Reliability. These are still unknown factors. I'm pretty confident regarding safety. Reliability will be an unknown for a while. I'm willing to take that risk (that's why they have warranties).

If it does what you want and you like it... Buy It.

Over a month with the Caliber and I'm lovin' it. The funny thing is that most of the people who have commented to me about the car have said it was cute. Haven't they seen the television commercials....!
