We manufacture some wonderful diesel engines for our European products. When will North America have the same choices?
— Question submitted by Geoff Grimwood, Brampton Assembly Plant
Chrysler Group management is very commited to exploring the market for diesel products in the U.S. As you know, DaimlerChrysler is an industry leader in diesel technology.
Before we can sell more diesels in this country, we have to make sure that we can meet tough new environmental standards in California and the rest of the country, and do it at a cost that our customers can afford.
And we still have more education to do—to acquaint a new generation of owners with the advantages of modern, clean, efficient, powerful diesel engines.
We will keep moving forward, but we need to answer these key questions before we can offer a full range of diesel products.

However, as a diesel fanatic (VW Rabbit, Jetta, Eurovan, Golf and 2 Golf TDIs), even VW is taking a 1-year break and not selling any 2007 vehicles with diesel engines.[
] Maybe with the 2008 Caliber DCX will see the wisdom in offering diesels......?
YA I pretty much resigned myself that I will have to wait. But in the mean time I'll get a 5 speed and the trade when the diesels come. Hopefully I won't get stung too bad on trade.
